You need to keep your eyes open for the obvious signs of a leaking roof. If the outer portion of the roof is made out of wood, it would swell. Along with that, there would be yellow colored stains on the portion made out of cement. If you have any of these signs, it simply means that your roof is leaking and needs to be repaired.
Using waterproof repair tape for sealing leaks
Once you have found the area leaking, clean it with dry cloth to ensure that there is no wetness. The next step is application cement. Here, you need to be careful. Do not apply a thick layer as it may start falling due to weight. After applying cement, level it with the remaining part of the roof by using a trowel. The next step is to let it dry. Usually, newly applied cement takes around 6 hours to dry completely. Once it has dried out, you can touch it and then apply the repair tape.
Keep a check
For few days, monitor the condition of the roof area that has been repaired. If you see wet spots appearing again, it simply means that the repair job has not been successful. Open the infected area and see whether the newly applied cement is in place or not. If it is not in place, you can reach the conclusion that the leakage cannot be repaired with basic skills and you need to opt for an expert.
